Job Summary The Engineering Intern will support engineering to work within Opto's component driven modular based store fixture system to expand and develop cost effective design solutions for standard and custom applications. Key Responsibilities * Work closely with members of Engineering and Design teams to create unique design solutions for the client * Support the Product Development engineers and designers to develop solid models, engineering drawings, and Bill of Materials for new product concepts * Intimately involved in the assembly and testing of prototypes to aid the design process * Develop unique solutions to solve product design challenges * Incorporate engineered, efficient, best practice methods in the design/detail of drawings * Create assembly & installation drawings for production and client * Interact regularly with production/manufacturing to assure design/production flow * Offer value engineering suggestions and ensure we are not compromising cost of quality * May also be responsible for carrying out other duties of the Engineering department including; design, research, prototyping, engineering documentation, estimating and process improvement * Follow any other instructions and perform any other duties as requested by manager Required Technical Skills * The ideal candidate will be a junior or senior, majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a 3.0+ grade point average * CAD experience is required (Autodesk Inventor preferred) * Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) * Ability to problem-solve quickly and effectively Required Personal Skills * Ability to communicate quickly, clearly, and effectively across multiple departments * Confidently interact with peers and cross functional teams * Ability to work successfully in a strong team environment * Excellent communicator * Superior organizational skills Reports To: Director of Engineering This is a Summer Job position Job Type: Temporary Salary: $15.00 to $17.00 /hour Education: * High school or equivalent (Preferred) Employment Length: * 4 - 6 months Pay Frequency: * Bi weekly or Twice monthly
