STREAM MONITORING INTERN (ECCHO) Cobb County Government - Marietta, GA4.0 8 hours agoFull-time$10 an hour Apply Now Skills * GIS Experiencing Cobb County Hands On Program (ECCHO) is 7 week paid summer internship program that is designed to identify qualified graduating seniors, undergraduate students or graduate students that have educational interests and abilities that can be effectively utilized in government service. This intern position is part of the Stream Monitoring Program for the Cobb County Water System and will assist staff in environmental projects and sampling as required by the Watershed Protection Plan, in addition to assisting in the daily operations of the Stream Monitoring Program. We seek someone who is willing to be outdoors assisting with field work and is also comfortable assisting with office related tasks when indoors. The program will start on June 3rd and lasts for 7 weeks or 280 hours. This position does not qualify for benefits. Communicates effectively both verbally, in writing, and in presenting information. Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, and requests from other staff. Participates in meetings and other events held by the assigned department as needed. Utilizes personal computers, standard office equipment and standard software applications, e.g., word processors, database software, and spreadsheet applications. Maintains attendance and punctuality within customary tolerances for this position. Duties may vary depending on the department the intern is assigned to. Performs other related duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with GIS preferred. License and Certifications Physical Abilities Tasks require performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that generally involves lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds). Sensory Requirements Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, texture, and visual cues or signals.
