ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS INTERN (ECCHO) Cobb County Government - Marietta, GA4.0 8 hours agoFull-time$10 an hour Apply Now Experiencing Cobb County Hands On Program (ECCHO) is 7 week paid summer internship program that is designed to identify qualified graduating seniors, undergraduate students or graduate students that have educational interests and abilities that can be effectively utilized in government service. This position is part of the Environmental Educational program for the Water System and would be ideal for students seeking practical experience in the environmental education field. We seek someone who is interested in working with the community, being outdoors, learning about the place we live, is open to learning how to be more ecologically aware and changing their behavior to make better choices, and is an engaged resident who is seeking to make an impact locally. The program will start on June 3rd and lasts for 7 weeks or 280 hours. This position does not qualify for benefits. Salary $10.00 per hour Grade Code 1P Position Number 8204111 Essential Functions Collaborates with staff to learn about department initiatives and how their project/internship aligns with these initiatives. Communicates effectively both verbally, in writing, and in presenting information. Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, and requests from other staff. Participates in meetings and other events held by the assigned department as needed. Utilizes personal computers, standard office equipment and standard software applications, e.g., word processors, database software, and spreadsheet applications. Maintains attendance and punctuality within customary tolerances for this position. Duties may vary depending on the department the intern is assigned to. Performs other related duties as assigned. Or Must be a rising Senior in a Cobb County High School for the 2019-2020 school year. Must have a 3.0 grade point average. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience giving presentations to children and youth preferred. Experience working the community through environmental education/stewardship preferred. License and Certifications Physical Abilities Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Sensory Requirements Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally. Environmental Factors Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
