Digital Media and Communications Intern CAPI USA - Brooklyn Center, MN4.5 8 hours agoInternshipEstimated: $22,000 - $28,000 a year Apply Now Skills * Social Media Management POSITION: Civic Engagement Digital Media/Communications Internship JOB TYPE: Temporary 3-4 months LOCATION: 5930 Brooklyn Boulevard, Brooklyn Center, MN 55429 and surrounding Twin Cities area CLOSING DATE: Open until filled Organization Summary: Established in 1982, CAPIs mission is to guide immigrants and refugees in their journey toward self-determination and social equality. CAPI employs 30 diverse staff who annually engage more than 5,000 people in a growing continuum of basic need, economic opportunity and civic engagement programs and services via two multi-service centers located in South Minneapolis and Brooklyn Center. Position Description: CAPIs Civic Engagement Digital Media and Communications Intern will help to develop messaging and maintain social media channels for the Civic Engagement program. CAPI is a leader in the Ignite Minnesota Asian Power (IMAP) Coalition; made up of 14 diverse Asian ethnic-led organizations working to increase civic engagement within their communities. IMAP uses social media to share our message, events, and successes as well as relevant news stories. This position will be responsible for managing IMAP social media channels and helping further develop them. Position Responsibilities (not limited to this list): * Develop creative content for IMAP and monitor IMAP social media channels; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Blog * Work with our partner Asian American Organizing Projects Social Media Coordinator to create a cohesive social media messaging plan * Research and share news/events that are relevant to IMAPs mission and the communities it serves * Attend and provide coverage of civic engagement outreach events through social media * Create graphics and video elements to accompany and promote IMAP content on social media * Help shape messaging around 2020 Census engagement * Write engaging blog content and press releases * Assist IMAP partners to participate in social media * Work closely with CAPIs Civic Engagement Coordinator on above activities and other tasks as needed *Position Hours * 8-10 hours a week for 3-4 months (May through September). Start and end date are negotiable and we are able to work with your schedule. Must be flexible as some events occur on weeknights and weekends. Preferred Qualifications: * Previous experience with developing and/or managing social media channels * Previous experience with designing social media graphics * Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize, and meet deadlines * Ability to work both as a team member and independently with minimum supervision * Culturally competent: able to work effectively and respectfully with people of many cultures, nationalities, and groups * Ability to enjoy working in a fast paced environment and ability to work under pressure * Strong oral and written communication skills * Ability to adapt to changes in schedule * Ability to maintain multiple projects at one time Job Type: Internship
