Job Summary: Intern will work with Trane as a part time position (approximately 20 hours per week- hours are flexible based on students schedule. This assignment is intended to provide additional opportunity to experience engineering activities and responsibilities while also contributing to business goals. Responsibilities: Assignment may include process development for new products or process improvements/cost reduction projects for existing processes. Project tools include Lean manufacturing principles in a manufacturing environment. Manufacturing processes involved in project work may include welding, brazing, fabrication, machining, assembly, painting, or testing. Interaction with business processes may include design/drafting, materials, systems, production planning, quality and safety. An experienced manufacturing engineer will provide assignment guidance for specific projects. Qualifications: Sophomore, Junior or senior standing in an engineering-focused degree program preferred. Ability to work in a team environment and to interact within a cross-functional team required. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work on and complete a project with moderate direction and guidance. Ability to adjust to changing demands, priorities, and objectives required.
