We are committed to creating an optimal work environment that fosters teamwork, emphasizes training and offers international career development opportunities. bioM�rieux St. Louis Microbiology Innovation Department Intern Summer 2019 Up to Six Month Internship: The Intern will be supervised and mentored by the Director, Engineering Fellow, Managers, Principal and Sr. Lead Engineers in the Microbiology Innovation Department. Interaction with Project Leaders and other engineers will occur on a daily basis as needed in the internship period. The Director or Fellow, will review activities and progress. The Intern should feel free to ask questions, discuss issues, and provide technical advice in area of expertise in an open and congenial environment. Qualifications Education: Pursuing an Engineering degree from an AACSB-approved University. 1. Basic Knowledge: Obtain basic knowledge related to medical instrumentation research, development, design and testing. Candidates will be expected to have general Scientific knowledge including the use of standard tools and test equipment and to have general computer applications competencies (word processing, spreadsheet, internet data search, software programming, etc.) Other areas of expertise will be provided as necessary. 2. Project Activities: Project(s) will be assigned to the Intern lasting 6 to 8 weeks each to address specific tasks in instrumentation test, research and development. Experimental design and fabrication of experimental test apparatus will be a part of these projects. The projects will have input and be discussed with the Intern prior to implementation. The Intern will be required to provide regular updates and maintain a research notebook and/or electronic database. 3. Design and Development Process: The Intern will be given the opportunity to acquire knowledge and understanding of the bioMerieux Design Control Process that addresses US and international regulatory requirements, as well as internal Quality Assurance. 4. Exploratory R&D: The Intern is expected to be involved in literature search activity and discussions (brainstorming) with engineers from Instrument R&D and other departments on innovative technologies and creative ways to adapt traditional bioM�rieux technologies and new technologies into next generation products for bioMerieux. bioM�rieux is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action Employer.
