Overview Within the Corporate Controllers team, Technical Accounting and Reporting (TA&R) is the authority within FMC on Technical Accounting and Reporting matters. TA&R serves as an oversight entity, helping various FMC functions in aligning business and financial reporting requirements. As such, TA&R works closely together with business leaders, FP&A leaders, functional areas such as legal, tax and treasury, consolidations/reporting team and Accounting Operations to assist with the delivery of quality internal and external financial reporting. The Summer Intern role will work very closed with the Accountant and Senior Accountant of External Reporting and Technical Accounting. Responsibilities This summer internship position will assist with the preparation of external (SEC) reporting (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K) as well as ensure the timely completion of all supporting documentation, preparation of footnote disclosure and supporting work papers and compliance with internal controls over financial reporting. The role also ensures financial statements are accurate and in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles as well as ensure appropriateness and execution of company accounting policies and procedures. This role will also work closely with the Director of Finance Continuous Improvement on various projects. MAJO R RESPONSIBILITY AREAS: External Reporting & Technical Accounting Responsibilities Assist with preparation and compliance of SEC reporting materials (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, 11-K) Prepare footnote documentation to support Form 10-Q, 10-K, etc. Assist in monitoring the integrity of controls over the external reporting process through checklists and other methods to ensure compliance with the regulations resulting from SOX Coordinate audit request with external auditors, internal auditors and compliance Assist with the annual financial statements for the FMC Retirement Plan (FMC Saving Plan, Define Benefit Plan and Form 11-K). Assist with the Companys ongoing maintenance of the recently adopted ASC 842 lease standard Perform certain research and data gathering activities as part of the Companys process to update financial standards Assist with ad-hoc projects supporting the technical accounting group Consolidations Responsibilities Prepare for FMCs compliance with various government reporting, which includes compilation of government regulatory financial requests, (i.e. treasury department requests, census bureau, etc.) Assist in certain consolidations and reporting activities related to monthly and quarterly closes Other Ad-hoc support across Consolidation group including supplemental schedule status check Business Transformation/Process Improvement Responsibilities Assist in process improvements projects Monitor and report progress of process improvement initiatives against baseline metrics in order to track success Gather and coordinate data and develop reports and meeting materials. Assit in monitoring the project governance process Prepare ad-hoc reporting requests and projects as needed. Required Education Pursuing an undergraduate bachelors degree in accounting Qualifications Current university student pursuing an accounting degree Strong analytical and interpersonal skills Solid technical accounting base knowledge with ability to perform accounting research Excellent Excel skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with non-accountants Demonstrate understanding of US GAAP financial statement and SEC reporting EEO Statement At FMC, diversity and inclusion are in our DNA.
