ABOUT VEECO S PROCESS DEVELOPMENT ENGINEERS: Veeco s Precision Surface Processing (PSP) team designs and develops wafer wet processing capabilities in markets that include Semiconductor Advanced Packaging, MEMS, Compound Semiconductor, front-end of line (FEOL) and back-end of line (BEOL), photomask and flat panel displays. Our Process Development Engineers will work in a cleanroom lab environment with thin film, MEMS or similar manufacturing processes and will learn the procedures involved in single wafer wet processing. Veeco Instruments continues to grow and is looking for an Intern to support Process Development Engineering for our Horsham, PA, location. This internship is all about hands-on learning and providing you with professional growth and experience. DURATION: * Full-time employment during the Summer and Winter sessions (40 hours a week) * Part-time during Fall and Spring school semesters (minimum of 15 hours a week) YOUR ROLE: As a Process Development Intern, you will build on classroom learning through paid work directly related to your field. You will have the opportunity to: * Work closely with full-time BS, MS, PhD Engineers of many disciplines. (ChE, Chemistry, ME, EE, and Comp Sci.) * Support the development and demonstration of wet chemistry film processes to existing and potential customers. Support and conduct process qualifications of Veeco tools according to Veeco/customer specifications. * Research new techniques and solutions to problems experienced during various testing and qualifications. * Hands on control and operation of $1M state of the art chemical process equipment. * Analyze test results (e.g. minitab) and write, present reports on process development and/or customer demonstrations * Gain experience in 5S implementation and rigorous industry wide safety protocols * Work to help streamline the flow of chemical, wafer, and equipment processes SEEKING SOMEONE WITH INTEREST/EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: * Wet etch processes, cleaning and stripping (Engineering/Scientists dream job work environment) * Mechanical, electrical and plumbing skills used to diagnose and fix electro-mechanical issues * Metrology equipment such as optical microscope, SEM, EDS, surface particle measurement, profilometer, interferometer, four-point probe, etc. YOU WILL LOVE IT HERE IF: * You are eager to learn and have a what ever it takes attitude * You are seeking an opportunity in which you can use your education and develop new skills * You are independent but enjoy working with a team * You want to gain valuable hands-on experience WE NEED YOU TO BE THE FOLLOWING: * At least a Junior enrolled in a Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Chemistry program working towards a Bachelor's degree * Proficient with MS Office suite * Proficient with Minitab or equivalent * Able to take initiative and own assignments * Excellent oral and written communication skills Want to know more?
