Location Anchorage, AK 99515 US (Primary) # of Hires Needed 1 Education High School Diploma or Equivalent Career Level Internship Shift Type First Shift Job Type Internship Exemption Type Non-Exempt Percentage of Time Willing to Travel Job Description JOB SUMMARY: As part of EXCEL Alaskas program, this position participates in job shadowing of STGs Project Operations team and Welding Shop personnel from June 4th 15th, 2019. With oversight from the Director of Project Operations, this hands-on position will gain exposure to remote Alaska construction projects, including project support, logistics, welding and shop/yard-assisting duties. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist in expediting materials/equipment for field projects. Assist with equipment inventory and operations. Assist in setting up equipment and weld parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment. Assist in providing support in performing a full range of weld processes in all aspects of weld procedures, including preheat temperatures, electrode selection, welding process, and quality control in accordance with the specific metallurgical properties of the material involved. Assist in performing necessary maintenance and repair on all equipment used in welding. Maintain the shop by cleaning up the work area and organizing all the tools used for the job. Perform duties in accordance to the company wide safety plan. Assist in reporting any incident, situation or activity that may affect the companys ability to operate safely, ethically, and profitably to company Safety Manager. Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Perform other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Job Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Ability to organize resources, establish priorities, meet deadlines and general time management. Ability to safely utilize and care for welding tools and equipment, and welding electrodes commonly used. Effective professional communication and interpersonal skills with regard in internal and external verbal communications. Working with other departments and personnel to accomplish STGs objectives. Ability to effectively work in a team environment in a respectful and supportive manner, and take direction from supervisor(s). Ability to be attentive to details and follow work rules. Ability to maintain consistent and punctual attendance and to adhere to established work schedules. Ability to seek out and participate in development and training opportunities. QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Pre-selection through the EXCEL Program is required. Ability to pass a drug and background screening.
