Job Description DLZ Michigan, Inc. is seeking candidates for an Intern position in our Lansing, Michigan office. Job Duties: * Ecological and wetland investigations * Field and desktop data collection * Report writing * Creation of exhibits and graphics using GIS and/or CAD programs * Various field and office tasks related to planning, civil engineering, and landscape architecture * Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan. * Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Skills: * Enrolled in a degree program for biology, environmental sciences, planning, geography, landscape architecture, or another relevant natural science major * Ability to identify birds (by sight and sound), amphibians, reptiles, and mammals * Ability to identify a wide variety of plants including endemic, invasive, and rare plants * Willingness to work flexible hours to maximize field data collection efforts * Ability to quickly learn new tasks and procedures/critical thinking * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Ability to work and thrive in a team environment * Strong organizational and problem-solving skills * Ability to self-motivate and work productively with limited supervision * Working knowledge of GPS field data collectors * Working knowledge of software programs including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS * Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites and complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements. This will be a part-time position starting in the spring of 2019. Full-time hours may be available during the summer of 2019.
