We are seeking a highly-motivated Water Resources/Civil Engineering intern to join our Seattle, WA team to support water resources and civil engineering projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. The ideal candidate will possess a strong desire to gain applied experience in engineering and scientific methods and techniques related to water resources management and is currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in an engineering program. **What Youll Get To Do** * Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to provide technical support to engineering staff and project managers in support of water resource projects. * Participate in field data collection activities which may include, but are not limited to, topographic and hydrographic surveying, aquatic habitat and wetland assessment, discharge measurements, water quality and storm water sampling. * Provide support for the analysis of diverse water resources including: watersheds, floodplains, wetlands, channels, reservoirs, and hydraulic structures using geospatial tools, numerical models, databases and applied statistics. * Prepare documentation of completed tasks that summarizes analytical data and interpretation through clear technical writing, figures, charts, and maps. * Conduct research related to civil engineering design and stormwater management criteria * Assist with design drawing development from sketches, notes, GIS data and verbal instructions. **More About This Role** * The qualified candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, committed to project schedules and deadlines; ability to work independently and within a team environment; be self-motivated. Specific requirements include: * Currently pursuing or has recently completed an undergraduate degree in water resources engineering or civil engineering or related field with an emphasis in surface water hydrology and hydrodynamics. * Good communication, writing, and data management skills, including fluency with Microsoft Office suite of programs. * Experience with and desire to improve skills in GIS/CAD software such as ESRI ArcMap and Autodesk Civil3D highly desired. **Additional Desired Skills** * Education or experience with fundamentals of fluvial geomorphology, river mechanics sediment transport, and aquatic ecology. * A good working knowledge of basic civil engineering principles, practices and methods. Understanding of stormwater engineering terminology a plus. * AutoCAD experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D a plus. * Familiarity or experience with fundamentals of stormwater planning and modeling. * Field surveying experience utilizing both GPS and conventional techniques. * Experience with hydraulic modeling software, including USACE HEC suite. * Applied programming experience for data processing such as: Visual Basic, Python, or Matlab. **What We Can Offer You** * Downtown Seattle office location -- only a few blocks from Pike Street, restaurants and many other attractions * Easy access to buses and ferries * Professional networking, learning and development opportunities For more information on our company, please visit our website at www.tetratech.com.
