This summer internship will provide invaluable testing of a vital new capability in our X-ray Imaging products. Specifically the intern will develop test scripts, obtain images, perform tests, analyze the results and suggest new tests to perform. The summer internship will be from May 2019 to August 2019.Job Description We are building a new platform of detectors with advanced onboard image correction capabilities. This new platform allows test images or sequences to be injected into a processing pipeline and retrieved in a well-determined way. The intern will write comprehensive functional tests using basic scripting skills. These scripts will precisely verify behavior, identify and test corner cases and ensure that our new onboard capabilities improve on our existing methods and delight our customers. In addition, the scripts and methods produced by the intern will be used for future automatic verification of new designs and design changes. Specifically, the intern would a) develop test scripts in a Linux environment, b) create test images or sequences, c) setup up the imager to pipeline and process, d) run the test, e) obtain the resultant image or sequence and f) analyze the data looking for correct behavior or in some cases quantifying behavior. The creation of test images will require some x-ray image acquisition with the x-ray generator. Intern will be expected to suggest new experiments to run based on results. Type of degree/program: Scientific method experience required so any field requiring laboratory work or experimentation Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Biophysics A current second year undergrad would have the minimum experience needed but any candidate up to PhD could obtain value from the experience. Technical skills: Basic programming skills Some experience with scripting would prefer C/Python/TCL/Bash experience Experience running experiments, scientific method, analyzing data. Some statistics experience for refining experimental data. Some lab experience with electronics Ability to write reports / Word / Excel SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge Varies based on job. Required Certifications and Training Obtains and completes LMS training plan specific to assigned responsibility. Experience Level with Business Tools Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired. LEVEL DESCRIPTION Skill As a skilled specialist, completes tasks in resourceful and effective ways. Job Complexity Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative. Understands implications or work and makes recommendations for solutions.
