Plumbing Apprenticeship Instructor Pool - Adjunct (Part-time) Location US-WI-Eau Claire | US-WI-Chippewa Falls Posting # 2016-1039 Category Adjunct Faculty - Architecture & Construction Type Part-Time FLSA Status Exempt Hourly Pay Rate/Salary $35 per instructional hour (includes a built-in preparation time factor) Hours per Week Average instructional hours vary and may range from 3 to 8 hours per week. Work Schedule Schedule and hours vary and may include day and evening classes. Overview and Responsibilities Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) is establishing a pool of qualified candidates to be considered when adjunct and/or substitute instructors are needed to teach Plumber Apprenticeship courses. Needs may become available prior to or during each semester. Program and course information can be found at https://www.cvtc.edu/academics/apprenticeships#plumber . Adjunct instructors are hired on a per course basis. Courses are taught face-to-face in classroom, lab, or clinical settings; online; or a combination of online and face-to-face. All CVTC instructors are required to meet with students and/or attend meetings on-site on a regular basis. This means that all instructors, including online instructors, must live within driving distance of CVTC campuses. Campuses are located in Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Menomonie, Neillsville and River Falls, Wisconsin. Responsibilities: Provide instruction in the design and installation of plumbing including, but not limited to, the following areas: Storm and clear water systems Sanitary drains and venting systems Onsite waste disposal systems ( POWTS ) Water distribution systems Isometric drawing Plumbing repair Plumbing applications Print reading and interpretation Code interpretation Design and implement effective learning strategies and environments. Deliver instruction of high quality. Assess student learning. Advise students. Maintain labs as appropriate. Participate in college activities and pursue ongoing professional development. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to plan for and deliver quality instruction. Ability to facilitate and assess student learning. Ability to manage the classroom effectively. Ability to work collaboratively with the internal community. Ability to establish and maintain partnerships with external community. Working knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Familiarity with the construction contracting, including knowledge of contracts, estimating, residential building codes and material selection. Knowledge of sustainable building technologies. Knowledge of site and building layout, including familiarity with the use of builders levels, transits and other layout tools. Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions in plumbing systems. Ability to model integrity through self-awareness, personal accountability, ethical behavior, quality standards, and sustainable practices. Ability to think critically by applying problem solving practices, acquiring relevant information, using technology and other resources appropriately, and evaluating alternatives. Ability to communicate effectively by speaking and writing clearly, concisely, and professionally; practicing active listening; reading critically and adapting communication for audience. Ability to value diversity and demonstrate commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally respectful interactions with persons of diverse ethnic, cultural, social-economic, or educational backgrounds. Basic to intermediate knowledge of and skills with technology used for communication, grade entry, and teaching; including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint and SIS. Qualifications Associates degree from an accredited college or university in an area preparing a person for the occupational area being taught. Minimum of 2 years (4,000 hours) of occupational experience in a target job for the program or programs being taught, of which at least 1 year (2,000 hours) shall be within 5 years prior to date of hire. One year (2,000 hours) of recent related occupational experience may be waived if the applicant has at least 2 years of postsecondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within 5 years prior to date of hire. Completion of a plumbing apprenticeship with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards with 14,000 hours of occupational experience. Current Plumbing license. Prior teaching or training experience preferred. Qualified per CVTC requirements at time of, and throughout, employment as an instructor. Must also meet and maintain Higher Learning Commission (HLC) requirements, Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS), and/or other job specific licensing standards.
