Community Engagement Intern Salary $12.70 - $13.08 Hourly Location Raleigh, NC Job Type Intern Department Planning Job Number 2019-00255 Closing 4/29/2019 11:59 PM Eastern Job Description The Communication Office of City of Raleigh's Planning Department is seeking a community engagement intern to assist staff with engagement efforts on a variety of projects. The Intern is a temporary, hourly employee of the City of Raleigh. This is a temporary position without benefits. Duties and Responsibilities Key responsibilities of the intern will include drafting a project communications plan, organizing public meetings, conducting research, participating in brainstorming sessions, engaging the public, preparing press releases, and assisting with social media outreach. Typical Qualifications Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program and a student in good academic standing. Preference for students enrolled in Communications, Public Relations, and Marketing but are open to candidates who possess strong working skills in any of these areas. Additional Information Knowledge and Skills: Be motivated and dependable. Have an interest in community outreach. Be comfortable interacting with the public. Have good organizational and interpersonal skills. Have strong verbal and written communications skills. Be familiar with various social media platforms. Have the ability to juggle multiple assignments. ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS : Positions in this class typically require: fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Sedentary Work : Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
