GIS STUDENT INTERN Pueblo of Sandia Job Code 94901 Shift Day Pay Rate $8.67-$10.84/hr Category Environment Employment Status Part-Time Incentive GIS STUDENT INTERN Description: Position Summary Reports to the GIS Manager, provides technical and administrative support activities involving the collection, analysis, and reporting of geographic information as related to environmental and other tribal issues Supervision Exercised Supervised by the GIS Manager Major Duties and Responsibilities 1. Collect Global Positioning System (GPS) data in the field for support of air, soil, and water sampling and monitoring. 2. Research, collect, and analyze data from a variety of sources including tribal, federal, state, and local governments, community organizations, and other agencies for use in the GIS. 3. Maintain active enrollment in post-high school coursework related to this internship. 4. Assist GIS Specialist and GIS Manager in the generation of maps and other department and tribal reports. 5. Assists GIS Specialist and GIS Manager in presenting workshops, meetings, and seminars designed to educate community members on GIS, environmental and other issues, problems, and solutions. 6. Assists other environment staff with field sampling. 7. Along with the GIS Specialist and GIS Manager, meet and confer with tribal, federal, state, and local officials regarding GIS and environmental issues. 8. Provides administrative support to other environment staff as assigned. 9. Knowledge of environmental issues and problems desirable. 12. Knowledge of GIS, GPS, and geographic processes desirable Requirements: Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience 1. Must be a high school senior planning to attend, or a student enrolled in a post-high school academic or vocational institution. 2. Valid, unrestricted driver#8217;s license. Licensing Status Must be able to successfully pass a Background Investigation.
