Salary Range: $14.00 Benefits Provided: No Required Attachments: Resume, Cover Letter, Examples of Work, Class Schedule Job Description --- Provides support for Design and Production department design team, performing a broad range of work as needed, including: * Producing final design files for print based on OUP Designers layout. Designing book covers and jackets under supervision of OUP Design & Production Manager. Producing, correcting, and preparing for printing fliers, advertisements, catalogs, and other marketing pieces. * Assisting Reprint Manager with corrections to books and covers being reprinted. Evaluating and reporting on illustrations submitted by authors in a variety of formats, to determine suitability for print. Creating and editing image files for books such as maps, charts, and graphs. Editing photographic images for book publication. Job Requirements --- Required Education: Must be currently enrolled as a student in good standing at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status. * Must attach FALL 2019 class schedule. Skills: * Must be proficient in standard design software on the Macintosh platform * Programs include: Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) * Portfolio should exhibit awareness of design and print production * Applicants must be self-motivated with excellent time-management and organizational skills Advertised Physical Requirements: * Must be able to work at a computer monitor. No lifting required. Ability to engage in repetitive motions including movements Special Instructions: * The OU Press is located off of Tecumseh Road, in north Norman. * Portfolio of design work to include printed pieces if available. Samples of work accompanying application material should be in pdf format, interviews will include a physical portfolio review of 5-10 pieces. * If you are selected as a final candidate for this position, you will be subject to The University of Oklahoma Norman Campus Tuberculosis Testing policy.
