About Pacific Valves Pacific� Valves, an operating location of CRANE ChemPharma & Energy that designs and manufactures highly engineered valves for power generation, refining, hydrofluoric alkylation service and delayed coker isolation. Position Summary Under general supervision, is responsible for responding to customer requests for quotation and product selection. Uses existing product designs and modifies them to meet customer requirements. Principle Duties: 1. Assists customers by recommending appropriate component selection for product applications and customer requirements including preparation of samples for approval. 2. Provides technical assistance to customers, Business Line Managers and sales staff (internal and external). 3. Monitors progress of special requests and informs customer of status including coordination of project preparation and deployment. 4. Creates and conducts training presentations to sales representatives and distributors in technical product applications, features and competitive characteristics. 5. Interacts with customer care staff, sales and marketing staff, various departments and customers regarding sales orders and technical support. 6. Attends trade shows and participates in staff meetings when necessary. 7. Travel to customers and distributors for product training. 8. Selects and designs appropriate solutions for customers utilizing existing parts and recommendation of alternative with input from engineering. 9. Develops knowledge and expertise in competitor analysis, customers products and applications for target market segments. 10. Ability to translate conceptual ideas and customer input into potential new product design opportunities. Ability to draw from customers the value of our products or new products. 11. Ability to determine product applications focused on providing customer solutions. Essential Qualifications / Experience: Experience/Training/Education: Required: Educational attainment equivalent to a Bachelors degree in Engineering. Minimum two years of experience in applicable field or industry preferred. Knowledge of: Basic Design and manufacturing principals, Bills of material, Transportation Marketing and sales principles, methods and practices; applications and sales territories; technical product applications and documentations; customer service principles, practices and procedures. Skills: Operate a computer terminal and related software programs; familiar with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office and Solid Works Ability to: Identify market and customer needs and make recommendations; conduct product training presentations to customers and sales staff; exercise tact and diplomacy in resolving customer relations inquiries and problems; research pricing, shipping and discounting terms and conditions by product line and account; exercise initiative in independently researching and resolving inquiries and problems; prepare clear and concise business correspondence; organize, assign and coordinate work to meet scheduled deadlines including preparation of samples and test reports; make mathematical computations quickly and accurately; understand and follow written and verbal instructions; communicate and work cooperatively with co-workers, departmental representatives, sales representatives, management, customers and vendors. Should be able to take a concept and translate it into a product design. Special Requirements: May be required to travel 75% on company business to interact with customers.
