The intern will work with hurricane-related datasets to develop an artificial intelligence/machine learning approach to hurricane intensity and track predictions. The primary input dataset will be a large hurricane forecast error database developed at RENCI. The intern will be expected to develop python-based software that processes the database into suitable training and validation data sets, generates track and intensity predictions, and post-processes the results. The final deliverable will be a written report detailing the approach, methods, and outcomes. Education and Experience Minimum: Graduation from a four-year college; or an equivalent combination of training and/or related experience. Preferred: Knowledgeable in databases, python programming, and AI/ML techniques.
