CAPI employs 30 diverse staff who annually engage more than 5,000 people in a growing continuum of basic need, economic opportunity and civic engagement programs and services via two multi-service centers located in South Minneapolis and Brooklyn Center. CAPI began as a food shelf, and continues to serve several hundred families per month. CAPIs Community Gardens program began in 2012 and continue to serve about 100 growers throughout the Twin Cities. CAPIs gardening program recently started a Giving Garden with the goal of providing more fresh produce to CAPIs food shelf. Position Description: CAPIs Agricultural Intern will assist the Food and Nutrition Coordinator in supporting CAPIs Giving Garden located in Brooklyn Park, MN. This intern will assist with planting, watering, harvesting, and general upkeep of the Giving Garden. Intern will coordinate transportation of produce from garden to CAPIs food shelf and work closely with Giving Garden volunteers to provide oversight and education as needed. Position Hours: 8 10 hours a week for 3-4 months (May through September); flexible hours. Start and end date are negotiable. This position may be used to fulfill academic requirements or community service hours. Preferred Qualifications: * Previous experience and knowledge of community gardening, agriculture, horticulture, and/or food systems * Ability to work both as a team member and independently with minimum supervision * Culturally competent able to work effectively and respectfully with people of many cultures, nationalities, and groups * Ability to manage time effectively and multitask * Strong communication and leadership skills * Bilingual skills strongly preferred (Hmong, Vietnamese, other Asian languages) * Must have a valid drivers license and access to reliable transportation Job Type: Internship License: * Driver's License (Required)
