Waterman, KS Job Type Limited Part-time Department Wichita Transit Job Number DEPT INTER TRAN 5310 Closing 4/25/2019 11:59 PM Central Distinguishing Features of Work Wichita Transit at the City of Wichita is seeking a graduate school student for an internship in grant management. This is position will work alongside the Transportation Coordinator in the office or in the community. The primary functions of this position will be to assist with the management of the FTA Section 5310 Program, paratransit eligibility process, travel training and community outreach. The internship is renewable each semester. This is a part-time, limited position working no more than 25 hours per week. Some evening and weekends may be required. Hours are flexible depending on student schedule. This internship may be renewable each semester. Examples of Work Performed Performs intern-level work assigned by the department. Prepares and maintains detailed documents. Initiates routine information gathering; coordinates the distribution of requests for information and follows process to completion. Assist with subrecipient monitoring and ensures compliance with policies and procedures. Conduct research and prepares reports with recommendations of proposed solutions. Community outreach efforts at events, meetings, presentations, and speaking engagements Coordination of logistics related to activities with other departments and outside agencies These examples are not intended to be all-inclusive. Other related duties may be assigned as needed. Requirements of Work Level of knowledge appropriate to the work being assigned. Ability to read, interpret, organize, and compile data from a number of sources and to prepare a summary of the information collected. Considerable knowledge of research techniques and sources of information. Knowledge of information resources and information evaluation and reporting techniques. Strong customer service orientation and ability to effectively collaborate with co-workers and the public Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Valid Kansas driver's license Required Experience and Training Candidates must be currently enrolled in college at graduate school level. Preferred discipline of study: Public Health. Minimum program GPA required is 3.0 or higher. Internship opportunities are contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening, and upon satisfactory evaluation of the results of a criminal record check.
