Position Summary The Emergency Department Research intern position will assist with clinical research projects and clinical quality analysis in a variety of ways, including, conducting EMR searches for data collection, mathematical analysis and reporting, compiling and submitting essential documents in accordance with study project and institutional guidelines. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Overall responsibilities * Assist with research, mathematical analysis, and other reporting as delegated to assure successful achievement of quality, safety, regulatory, and financial outcomes. This may include responsibilities such as: * Querying and analyzing large databases to cohort specific patient populations * Employing mathematical techniques, such as forecasting and multi-variate regression, to identify past trends and future predections. * Identify key data elements in Electronic Health Record databases to support ongoing clinical quality research. * Submit detailed reports and summaries of key findings Job Requirements/Specifications Education and Experience:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Required: * Must be able to commit 20 to 29 hours a week at a minimum. * 18 years of age and older. * Able to lift 30 lbs, type 40+ wpm and stand for 2-3 hours at a time. * Data entry skills required, Intermediate Microsoft Suite skills (word, excel, outlook). * Comfortable with switching between paper documents, desktop and mobile devices (i.e. tablets). Preferred: * Knowledge and experience of standard mathematical modeling * Experience in querying databases Essential Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
