Summer Intern Water Education for Latino Leaders (WELL) - Community Partners - Los Angeles, CA 2 hours agoInternshipEstimated: $24,000 - $33,000 a year Apply Now Skills * Excel * Computer Skills * Microsoft Word * Google Suite * Microsoft Office About WELL Water Education for Latino Leaders (WELL), established in 2012, is on a mission to educate local Latino elected officials on water policies to promote timely and equitable actions that ensure a robust economy, healthy communities, and a resilient environment for all Californians. WELL hosts annual conferences, regional workshops, and fellowship programs to educate elected leaders on the most pressing water issues in California. Summer Intern Position Description WELL is currently recruiting fellows for our flagship program UnTapped, preparing for a series of state-wide legislative workshops, and designing a new exciting network of past and current WELL Fellows. The primary scope of the interns work will be to engage and assist in the design and implementation of these projects. The intern will also have the opportunity to research water policy involved in the educational programming for these events, as well as pitch-in innovative ways of engaging public officials and educating them about water management, environmental justice, and leadership development in general. Additionally, interns will assist WELLs staff on fundraising, administrative and other day-to-day tasks. The WELL Internship Program is a unique opportunity for students to learn about environmental justice and management from the perspective of a non-profit organization. Required Qualifications: * Must be currently enrolled in a local accredited college or university pursuing a major in Public Policy and/or Affairs, Political Science, Environmental Science, Nonprofit Management, or related disciplines. * Must be able to work part-time (20 hours/week) for 8-12 weeks over the summer. * Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office software excel, word, access and Google Suite. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen attention to detail. * Excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Desired Qualifications: * Strong interest in environmental justice, water issues, and Latino communities. * Very big appetite to learn. * Flexible to a rigorous work environment. * Willingness to push themselves to the discovery of new potential skills and interests. * Team player with staff, consultants, and elected officials. Time Commitment and Schedule: This is a part-time job opportunity. The intern should be able to commit 20 hours of work/ week for a minimum of two months during the 2019 summer term. Schedules will be proposed by the intern and approved by WELLs staff according to workload and needs. Salary This is an unpaid position. School credit and internship evaluations should be arranged directly with the students advisor.
