The internship is available to students who share Taliesins intellectual curiosity and passion for social justice. Interns will gain hands-on experience and receive mentorship during their Internship, as they contribute to projects which help our clients achieve extraordinary results, strengthening society and the natural world. This is a paid, 40 hours/week internship. The intern will work out of our Bethesda, MD office. We are flexible on start date (May/June 2019) and the internship will last approximately three months. To apply, please submit a resume, cover letter and writing sample. Responsibilities The selected intern will assist with both project delivery and proposal preparation. Potential projects include: Support to airport sustainability planning, alternative fuels analysis, research and analysis, survey design, electric vehicle policy research, workshop coordination, and transportation-related marketing and outreach Potential support activities include foundational research, literature review, data entry, data analysis, interviewing subject matter experts, synthesizing information, creative layout/design, word processing, technical editing, document formatting, meeting planning, and note taking. Qualifications Basic Enrollment in an academic program focused in any of these areas: transportation, urban planning, engineering, economics or other quantitative social science, public policy, environmental studies, or earth science. Experience interpreting and analyzing data. Experience developing clearly written, concise reports on technical subject matter. Excellent writing, communication, and critical thinking skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, including setting priorities and adapting to changes in a time-sensitive, deliverable driven workplace. Strong organizational, detail-oriented skills. Initiative and ability to self-direct on assignments. Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office applications, including Word and Excel. Additional Information About Taliesin Namkai-Meche Taliesin lost his life in an act of selfless bravery intervening during a racist attack and horrendous stabbing on a commuter train in Portland, Oregon. His act of courage speaks to his immense character and deep regard for others. Taliesin joined Cadmus as a summer intern in 2015. During his internship, Taliesin provided analysis in support of utility energy efficiency program evaluations. The connection between energy and economics became the topic of Taliesins senior thesis, which examined household substitution of space heating fuels in response to long-run changes in prices of electricity and natural gas. After graduating from Reed College with a B.A. in economics, Taliesin rejoined Cadmus as a full-time analyst, where he applied his academic training in economics and econometrics. Throughout his time with Cadmus, Taliesin took on ever more challenging work assignments and became a trusted and valued member of the Cadmus team.
