From one of the most sophisticated hotel reservation systems in the world to Disney Cruise Line shipboard systems, Disney Vacation Club member services, FastPass ticketing, PhotoPass, and even inventory applications to ensure we have the right number of cast costumes. DPEP Technology seeks forward-thinking team members who are passionate about delivering a quality product and enjoy working closely with business partners on both strategic and tactical challenges. As a Software Engineer intern you will be extensively involved in the design, implementation, and testing of the next generation of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts websites. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of new systems, features, and enhancements, integration with new and existing systems. Disney Seattle is a large, flourishing tech-focused office, where teams develop internet applications and services for all of the major domestic and international businesses across Disney. The office is located in the heart of downtown Seattle, near convenient public transport hubs, easy access to ferries, buses, and situated across from the iconic Seattle library. Responsibilities : Contribute to an impactful, value-add, dynamic project in backend services, mobile development, and/or web development to support the DPEP Technology & Digital team's current business priorities Develop and test new systems, features, and enhancements, as well as integration with new and existing systems Showcase a disciplined approach to software development, adhering to and enforcing engineering best practices in an agile environment Work effectively with project teams and stay in constant communication with colleagues Basic Qualifications : Strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals Strong Java expertise with a proven record of creating commercial quality software for the web Experience in creating estimates for small to medium projects Outstanding problem solving skills Experience designing, implementing, and testing high quality software solutions by applying the principles of Agile development Possesses excellent communication abilities (both verbal and written) and adhering to the standards of quality and excellence that are the core of The Walt Disney Company experience Proven ability to create/contribute to robust commercial applications Exceptional time management skills Preferred Qualifications: Experience with core web technologies, e.g. LAMP. Java, J2EE, Java Servlets, Java Beans, JDBC, SQL, JSP, and IIS Experience with Swift or mobile development technologies Strong understanding of common delivery and communication technologies including HTTP, SSL, SMTP, UDP, TCP/IP, RMI Required Education : Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class, or be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months at time of application, or be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program Junior or Senior of Computer Science , Computer Science Engineering, Math, or equivalent degree achieved or in progress Additional Information : The approximate dates of this internship are September 2019 - December 2019/January 2020 Candidate must be available to work full time hours (approximately 40 hours per week) for the duration of the internship
