It establishes policies, standards, goals and initiatives to ensure accountability and provide a high quality, world-class education for the 21st century that prepares our students for success in college, work and life. The Board Office supports the Chicago Board of Education to advance their goals and objectives by: Facilitating ongoing and efficient communication systems to improve Board engagement. Maintaining Board Rules & Policies for the Board of Education. Executing contracts, agreements and legal instruments approved by the Board for the District. Receives and distributes subpoenas/liens/summons and other legal documents for the Board. Holding monthly Board Meetings on the fourth Wednesday of every month (except for November and December which are typically held on the third and second Wednesday respectively). Providing support and services to all stakeholders. Managing the Archive for the Chicago Public Schools. Intern Description This is a part-time position that will mainly provide assistance to the Board Secretary and the Office Receptionist. Position will also provide direct support to the Deputy Chief of Staff. Typical Duties include but not limited to: Assist with preparation of materials and assist during monthly Board meeting, public hearings, committee meetings, and special meetings. Answer incoming telephone calls from parents, general public, reporters, other Chicago Public Schools departments, Board Members and City of Chicago officials. Provide assistance, answer questions, address concerns, and explain policies and procedures. Assist staff in completion of various projects, upon request. Greet and direct visitors. Perform day-to-day clerical functions. Assist public with viewing archive materials. Manage office mail. Qualifications: Proficient with inbound call center environment. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Google Docs. Experience in assisting senior level executives highly desirable. Bilingual in Spanish/English highly desirable. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Exemplary telephone customer service. Excellent interpersonal relations skills. Strong sense of teamwork. Strong work ethic. Strong sense of initiative. High degree of professionalism. Organized and detail-oriented. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
