This job brought to you by America's Job Exchange Type: Full Time Location : Lake City, Florida Job Description: DESCRIPTION SHIFT: PRN SCHEDULE: PRN/Per Diem Lake City Medical Center (LCMC) has been providing quality healthcare to Lake City and the surrounding communities for almost 60 years. We are a 91-bed comprehensive facility offering medical and surgical programs including 24-hour emergency care, heart care, orthopedics, cancer care, imaging and rehabilitation services. LCMC is the area's ONLY Accredited Chest Pain Hospital and the only facility to offer interventional cardiology. We are accredited by The Joint Commission and have been named a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for four consecutive years. POSITION SUMMARY: To provide quality care to patients under the direction of a licensed nurse in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of LCMC. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Demonstrates knowledge and application of basic patient care, to include activities of daily living, vital signs and intake and output. * Care of indwelling catheters, drains and tubes. * Removal of IV's and catheters. * Demonstrates the ability to recognize infection control concerns * Participate in the unit based Quality Improvement process. * Completes, executes and performs secretarial tasks, such as order entry, filing and organizing patient charts, and medication orders * Practices, endorses and provides customer service skills to patients, visitors, physicians and staff. * Demonstrates knowledge and respect of patient rights to privacy and protection of patient confidentiality. * Organizes and communicates patient care activities to the patient and to the Registered Nurse. * Monitors and documents information regarding patient activities, as directed by the Licensed Nurse. * Communicates, interacts and participates in team work on the unit. * Demonstrates an understanding of patient's charts, physician orders and nursing orders. * Promotes and displays a positive customer oriented demeanor to patients, visitors, staff and physicians. * Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, qualify of care or the services delivered. * Follows established guidelines for reporting a medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient's care which results in patient harm. * Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements. * Regular, punctual and dependable attendance. * Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED: * EMT, Paramedic training, 2 year associate degree in Medical Assistant, PCT certificate , or REGISTERED NURSING STUDENTS, WHO HAVE COMPLETED FUNDAMENTALS OF NURSING COURSES * CURRENT ENROLLMENT IN AN RN PROGRAM REQUIRED; COMPLETION OF THE FIRST MEDICAL/SURGICAL CLASS IS REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: * BLS certified required EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED: * Unit Secretary skills preferred * Basic pharmacology knowledge, medical terminology preferred * A minimum of one (1) years of hospital experience preferred SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: * Organizational, customer service, and communication skills in a detailed-oriented, customer-focused organization are required. Basic computer skills are required.
