Software Engineering Intern Johnson Controls - Milwaukee, WI3.8 3 hours agoFull-time Apply Now Education * Bachelor's Degree Skills * Visual Studio * C# * Ruby * PowerShell * Linux What you will do This undergrad technical position requires someone that can read, write and understand computer code. We have a challenging position for full-time summer employment, with an expectation of 8-10 hours per week during semesters. You will be supporting our development efforts by helping us maintain our products. Interns in the past have either hired on as permanent Johnson Controls employees or walked away with great experience to command top-paid salaries as a programmer. A successful candidate will be responsible to create solutions and products that are applicable for Building Automation Systems. You will work with a team of software engineers, performing activities that will include many aspects of the software engineering lifecycle; examples are described below. How you will do it: Acquire a basic working knowledge of Johnson Control products and the competitive environment in which we perform. A good working knowledge of Building Control applications and products that you help develop. Work with a team of developers on a wide variety of development languages to facilitate product development. Develop proof-of-concept prototypes with an eye for cybersecurity. Analyze, troubleshoot, and provide code fixes for reported problems and change requests. Participate in various software development models and practices to build your experience. Participate in the development meetings to learn engineering structure and communication skills. Focus on Continuous Improvement / Continuous Integration to improve product quality. Duration: This will be a full-time summer 2019 internship continuing to a part-time internship during the semester. Qualified students must be in the Milwaukee area and available to work the indicated hours. #internship Qualifications What we look for Required Qualifications: Currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at an accredited U.S. college or university At least 1 2 years actively pursuing a BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar Able to quickly learn new processes, software tools, and programming languages with minimal direction. You should have the ability to work within deadlines, and get work done in a timely manner. Have strong communication skills and the ability to work within a team. Good organizational and problem solving/reporting skills. U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S. Must be attending school in the Milwaukee area and available to work full-time through the summer and part-time (approximately 8 hours/week) during the school year Preferred Qualifications: You should have a passion for object oriented development methodology. Hands-on experience with languages such as C / C++, C#, Python, Ruby, and/or .NET including unit testing. Experience in VBScript, JavaScript or PowerShell or batch scripting will be a plus. Prior knowledge of Visual Studio, Linux, Eclipse, JIRA and GitHub would be very helpful.
