Business Development Intern, Social Impact, Arlington, VA Location: United States - VA - Arlington Description Business Development Intern, Social Impact, Arlington, VA SI is committed to enriching students abilities to get broad exposure to international development consulting and deepen their international development management skills. Business Development Interns support capture and proposal development efforts for a variety of clients, gaining knowledge and experience in proposal management and writing, research and intelligence gathering, partnership building, development of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and capacity building projects, and a thorough understanding of development contracting mechanisms. Position Description: The business development (BD) team is looking for an intern to assist in supporting capture and proposal efforts for various agencies in the areas of democracy and governance, gender, environment, energy, education, economic growth, health, youth, and water and sanitation. This will be an excellent opportunity to develop marketable skills related to strategy and positioning, capture and intelligence research, bids and proposals, development contracting mechanisms, and the international development landscape. Interns will also have opportunities to attend various industry events to further career development. This internship is for 3 months starting as soon as possible with the possibility of extending depending on performance. A full-time intern would be preferred, but we will also consider well-qualified part-time interns. Interns are paid an hourly wage of $10/hour up to 40 hours per week. Responsibilities: Assist in the development of large and small proposals for various agencies in the areas of democracy and governance, gender, environment, energy, education, economic growth, health, and agriculture. Support capture planning and strategy, conduct research, gather intelligence, and help with competitive assessments and analysis on potential opportunities. Identify and cultivate relationships with partner organizations and coordinate and take part in meetings with potential partner firms and local organizations. Assist in writing technical proposals, including contextual background and management and staffing plans. Assist in tracking new project opportunities and staying abreast in industry trends in M&E. Coordinate marketing efforts for external communications/representation of organizational capabilities. Contribute to internal knowledge management initiatives, including database management and entry. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree or higher, including current or recent graduate students. Attention to detail and ability to prioritize within a multi-tasking environment. Excellent writing/editing skills. Excellent research skills Strong organizational skills. Ability to meet deadlines. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new software programs quickly. Professional demeanor and diplomatic communication skills, especially via email. Highly motivated, dynamic, detail-oriented, people-person. Interest in international development, business development and/or recruitment. Fluency in a second language is preferred.
