Alta Science & Engineering, Inc. is currently accepting applications from talented civil or environmental engineering students or recent graduates to support civil design and construction oversight projects throughout Northern Idaho. Under the guidance of experienced staff, the successful candidate will learn from teams that include engineers, scientists and clients. This position is based in our Kellogg, Idaho office and is a full-time internship for the summer with opportunity to continue. Responsibilities May Include:* Construction oversight support including; daily observation reports, submittal review, construction memos and change orders.* Civil Design support including; field investigations, AutoCAD/Drafting support, modeling, working with suppliers, and cost estimates* Field work including surveying support and/or assisting our water resources staff* Maintain a high degree of professionalism during interactions with Alta staff, clients, and other stakeholders.* Provide timely communication with supervisor regarding work-related matters.* Actively promote good Health and Safety practices at all times.Required Qualifications:* Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering from an accredited university, having completed at least 3 years of college classes; or recent graduate.* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.* Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills will be critical for successful completion of tasks.* Strong working knowledge of MS Office Software packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)* Valid driver's license with insurable driving record Desired Qualifications:* Students who have passed or are scheduled to take the EIT exam will be strongly considered for this position.* Familiarity with design, drafting or engineering software such as AutoCAD as well as Microsoft Excel is beneficial* 40-Hour or 24-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Training (per 29 CFR 1910.120) with current 8-hour refresher training is a plusOther information:Pay depends on experience and abilitiesSubmit cover letter, resume, and contact information for three references to the applicable position opening via the careers page on our website: www.alta-se.com/careers/Position will be filled after identification of suitable candidate(s).Alta is a government contractor and equal opportunity employer of veterans, individuals with disabilities, and individuals in other protected classes.
