Now Hiring Pre-Apprentices (No HSD/GED Required) YouthCare's YouthBuild - Seattle, WA 98108 Contract Organization: YouthCare's YouthBuild Contract Dates: July 15-December 20, 2019 Work Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:45 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. Job Description: YouthCare's YouthBuild is a certified 6-month paid pre-apprenticeship learning opportunity for individuals aged 18-24, who are interested in completing their GED/HSD and participating in workforce development training in various trade-based industries (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.). YouthBuild Pre-Apprentices are also enrolled students at South Seattle Community College and receive 38 college credits as they engage in individualized instruction on all four GED subtests, personal and leadership development (budgeting, conflict management, communication, etc.), and employment preparation (cover letters, resumes, interviews, etc.) Pay/Benefits: * Bi-Weekly Stipend * Monthly Bonuses Offered for Exceeding Program Performance Standards * 38 Free College Credits for Individuals on Snap Benefits * Free Certifications in: OSHA10, First Aid/CPR, Flaggers, and Forklift * Free GED Preparation and Testing * Free ORCA Lift Card (Refilled Monthly) * 15 Months of Comprehensive Case Management (substance abuse counseling, housing, etc.) and Career Preparation/ Job Placement Qualifications * Individuals must be between the ages of 18-24 and verifiably low-income * Individuals with no high school diploma/GED preferred * Qualified individuals with criminal histories are encouraged to apply * Driver's license is not required (as this is a paid opportunity, other I-9 documentation is required for hire) * Applicants must have a willingness and ability to work hard physically * Applicants must possess an ability to work independently and with a team * Applicants must be committed to completing both their education and employment goals Applications are only accepted in person.
