Summer Interns: College students are hired based on strategic university recruiting needs as identified on an annual basis. The intern period is a minimum of 10 weeks, beginning June 3, 2019 and ending Mid- August. Position Description: Assist the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Department in developing a program offering for implementation in 2020 aimed at identifying new and existing customers with heat pumps at their residences to utilize such equipment to offset their winter heating requirements. The position will also be requested to support general program planning efforts for 2020 as requested based upon work requirements during the internship period. Duties include (but not limited to): Developing a method to identify existing residential customers with heat pumps already installed. Analyzing rebate data to determine which customer have heat pumps with heating capabilities. Analyzing customer meter data to ascertain which heat pump customers are utilizing their systems for heating purposes. Computing potential savings that oil, gas and electric heating customers may save by utilizing heat pumps to offset their existing heating approaches. Performing research both internet based and through private membership based resources to ascertain standards for assumptions on efficiency ratings, costs and savings. Drafting memos, recommendations, presentations and reports on efforts undertaken and results. Participate and support Energy Efficiency Planning efforts for the 2020 plan year. Perform cost benefit analysis as requested. Education and Qualifications: Required: College level rising Junior or Senior with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher. Actively pursuing a degree in business, math, engineering, economics or computer science This position requires driving to company location in Melville, NY.
