Maximum of 400 hours (12 weeks). Some evening and weekend hours may be required. No work will be performed on the following holidays May 27th and July 4th. Position Responsibilities Position Summary The 4-H Summer Intern will provide support to the 4-H Program Coordinator in the form of general office duties and special projects as requested in preparation for and during the Gooding County Fair. Responsibilities Job Duty Function Perform 4-H Internship duties by: Job Duties/Responsibilities In conjunction with other office staff, meeting and greeting the public. Taking written messages for telephone and walk-in inquires when necessary. Preparing correspondence, flyers, programs, and educational materials, altering said materials using word processing, desktop publishing, web publishing, database, and/or spreadsheet software as appropriate. Complying with the University of Idaho policy on affirmative action and equal opportunity as stated in the University of Idaho Faculty Staff Handbook, section 3060; comply with UI civil rights policies and procedures. Assisting office staff with photocopying, faxing, filing and other general office duties as required. Performing duties as required at Gooding County Fair; may be requested to work extended hours during the Gooding County Fair. Performing other 4-H related duties as required. PROVIDED SUPPORT: - Program supplies - Positive learning experience with strong, engaged mentors - Use of a computer with wireless access Percentage Of Time 100% Essential/Marginal Essential Position Qualifications Required Qualifications Ability to communicate with the public both in person and over the phone. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, and Publisher. Ability to perform office functions including- but not limited to- typing, filing, collating, operating office machines, computer, 10-key, etc. Written communication skills. Willingness to work with University of Idaho Extension Educators, 4-H Program Coordinator, Fair Manager, and other employees in an appropriate manner. Must provide own transportation and have the ability to travel to multiple work sites. Ability to pass a criminal background check. Preferred Qualifications Comprehensive knowledge of modern office procedures. Initiative to set and accomplish work related goals with minimal supervision. Organizational skills Ability to help create programs and work with youth in various settings. Prior Experience with 4-H. Preference given to applicants with some college credits. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Ability to sit to sit with intermittent moving in an office environment, lifting and/or otherwise moving office supplies (up to 40 pounds), moving around fair grounds when necessary.
