This position will assist staff auditors in planning, performing, and reporting on financial and operational audits. This individual will participate in various activities which provide independent assurance on the appropriateness of the design and operational effectiveness of internal control processes that mitigate key risks. * Please read the OPERS Personal Trading Policy prior to applying. All candidates must be able to abide by the policy to be considered for employment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Participate in various audit activities, such as reviewing relevant background material, documenting meeting notes, or preparing/updating process narratives/flowcharts to identify risks and controls of the area being audited. Execute testing of controls, documenting test steps taken and summarizing testing results during audits. Analyze data to contribute to audit workpapers and reports. Assist in updating of departmental policies and procedures. Perform research projects to support the goals of the department. Participate in meetings with audit stakeholders. Adhere to internal audit department methodology and OPERS policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Education High school diploma or GED Required Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Accounting Information Systems or related field Required Preferred graduation date of Spring 2021 or earlier Preferred Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 Required Qualifications Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills Required Strong analytical skills Required Self-starter who demonstrates an initiative to learn and ability to work independently Required Strong organizational skills Required Consistently applies attention to detail in execution of work Required Ability to juggle multiple projects at one time Required Experience Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access & PowerPoint) Required Certifications/Licenses No certifications/licenses Physical Requirements* (if applicable) * Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disability to perform the essential functions.
