Responsibilities Req ID: 50996 * Prepare, check and dispense medications and supplies under the supervision of a pharmacist * Compound extemporaneous products including packaging of medications in unit dose or unit of use packaging * Follows USP 797 requirements in preparing IV admixtures, IVIG, antibiotic piggybacks, syringes and other aseptically prepared products * Deliver medications and supplies to patient care areas/automated dispensing cabinets * Perform monthly station checks, medication room outdate checks and organization * Check and restock nursing unit crash carts * Answer and/or appropriately triage incoming phone calls to various areas of the pharmacy department or pharmacists using proper phone etiquette * Assist in inventory control * Conduct patient interviews to collect medication history, enter medication information into medical record, and complete documentation Education * Enrolled in an accredited School of Pharmacy working toward a Pharm.D. in Pharmacy degree Qualification/Skills Experience * Previous pharmacy experience preferred Skill * ability to read, speak, understand and write in English effectively * perform math calculations * accurately read, transcribe, speak and understand verbal and written pharmaceutical terminology * computer skills: use PC software, automated dispensing technology, and other computer applications * ability to self-motivate and work cooperatively with others as a team, prioritizing work to meet customer needs Licensure/Certifications * Pharmacy Intern License in the State of Minnesota Work Schedule * 5 hour shift 7 days per week (1600-2100 as intern in central pharmacy) * 5 hour shift 7 days per week (1700-2200) as med history intern in ED after P2 year * 8 hour shift on Saturday and Sunday (med histories after P2 year) * every fourth weekend -- variable technician shifts in central pharmacy * These shifts are distributed between all interns (~18 interns) Location/Community Information With beautiful natural settings along the Mississippi River, St. Paul embodies a large ethnically diverse population with restaurants, cultural entertainment, and shopping venues for everyone.
