Youth and Family Advocate Intern Vision House - Renton, WA3.5 22 hours agoPart-time$12 an hour Apply Now Skills * Computer Skills * Nonprofit Experience Benefits * Paid Time Off Description: 9 or 12 Month Internship Begins August 2019 Vision House Internship Program Overview The Vision House internship program is to provide young adults with a hands-on ministry experience in the non-profit, human services field. Our program is designed to develop and equip emerging Christian leaders through a process of inquiry, feedback and growth with an emphasis on servant leadership, vocation, calling and mission. * Opportunity for mentoring: The emphasis on mentoring conversations will be on identifying an interns current strengths and weaknesses to learn how to use these to promote success. * Conversations concerning Vocation, Calling and Giftedness: Each intern will engage in an ongoing process of reflection with their mentor. As a group, interns will explore personal strengths using the Gallup Strengths Finder assessment. * Significant Ministry in the organization: Genuine conversations followed by a commitment to cooperate with God with a call to action. * Opportunity to integrate with a larger movement of emerging leaders: Opportunity to visit other social service partners in the community and the opportunity to attend networking and/or committee meetings with Vision House staff in their respective areas of service (homelessness, fundraising, human resources, etc.) LOCATION: Renton, WA PAY: $12 per hour HOURS: Part-time, 20-25 hours per week, Non-Exempt Our new Intern will enjoy the following benefits: * 11-1/2 days of paid holidays * Generous Paid sick-leave * Flexible unpaid time off ALL interns will have the following responsibilities: * Engage department managers at Vision House to understand their impact on the mission. * Take part in monthly round table discussions around current issues of seeking home stability, non-profit work, donor relations and fund raising, racial and economic equity awareness and leadership development. * Join monthly field trips to partnering organizations. * Participate in bi-weekly discussions with an assigned mentor, and weekly supervision. * Attend Murdock Trust Vision & Call Internship Retreats: additional dates TBD. * Attend all-staff retreat and Global Leadership Summit. * Complete a project that will have lasting impact. * Complete an internship portfolio. As the Youth and Family Advocate Intern you will: * Participate in family attachment assessment; observe and engage with the program objectives. * Document and enter data into resident tracking database (ETO). * Engage with families and volunteers in events, activities and one on one sessions. * Actively support YFA staff in summer planning, activities, camps and field trips. * Create Attachment Curriculum and Engagement Tools with demonstrated relevance. (This will be an on-going project through the year, with reflection requirements intended to be part of the intern portfolio). * Help connect families with wraparound services and other resources in the Seattle area. Requirements: Intern selection will be based on the following: * Demonstrated interest in impacting the greater good and the Kingdom of God. * An interest in an internship that utilizes a relational, inquiry-based model, focusing on self-awareness, spiritual reflection and personal growth. * Demonstrated character traits of integrity, perseverance, curiosity and collaboration. * Content and quality of applicant's Statement of Purpose. * Quality of fit with Vision House expectations and opportunities. * An ability to act with integrity and uphold professional standards at all times. Intern candidates should have the following qualifications: * Ability to effectively work independently or as part of a team. * Demonstrate good listening and interactive communication skills. * Personal characteristics: approachable, empathetic, flexible, discerning. * Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications. * Ability to pass background check. * Ability to sign our Statement of Faith.
