The ultimate goal of our internship and fellowship program is to provide high-quality experiences (including relevant projects and opportunities for networking) that form the foundation for any individual who is serious about pursuing an environmental career. Climate Overview Although ambitious federal action is needed to achieve our climate goals, making progress at the state level - particularly over the next two years - is our greatest opportunity to both drive emission reductions and build a stronger legal, technical, and political foundation for more ambitious and aggressive federal policy. The potential to secure meaningful action on climate at the state level at this moment in time is greater than it has been in a decade. The Fellow will help advance transformative state climate policies by developing tailored analyses of policy options to inform EDF's engagement in key regulatory and legislative processes. Overall Function Under the direction of EDF's Senior Director of Regulatory Strategy, the Fellow will develop and execute research and analysis to inform and support EDF's advocacy on critically important aspects of climate policy design potentially including implications for energy markets, electricity grid dynamics, carbon market function, and emission reduction efficacy for different sectors. The fellow will be part of a dynamic team responsible for day-to-day advocacy and strategy directed towards securing smart, efficient, and ambitious state climate policies. Key Responsibilities Tasks will include but are not limited to: Lead project to develop state-specific public materials, developing first a template, and then systematically deploying research and analysis state-by-state to support state climate policy advocacy. Prepare analyses and explanatory materials to respond to questions from stakeholders engaged with the state-level policy efforts. Qualifications Demonstrated interest in climate and energy policy. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be well organized, motivated, and detail-oriented. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines. Ability to work in a team setting and have the ability to work independently when projects are due. Demonstrate initiative and problem solving skills. Location Boulder, CO Term 9 weeks during the summer. Hours Full-time (35 hours/week) Compensation This is a paid position, funded by the Jackson Fellows Program.
