The Cherry Hills location manages a 9 acre estate encompassing all aspects of the landscape including: turf, arboriculture, koi pond maintenance, landscape design, annual and perennial design and planting, and daily maintenance and management of all of the above. Job Description: A large and highly maintained private estate in the Cherry Hills area is seeking a skilled summer intern to help with landscape maintenance, design, and installation during the busy spring and summer months. Candidates should expect to take on a daily task list, work with the grounds manager, landscape vendors, and become involved with design and installation when time permits. The estate would also like the intern to use their passion to find a weakness at the property and present solutions by the end of the internship. The benefits of this internship include working closely with a small and passionate team, at a one of a kind property. This will be a full-time summer internship position. Skills will be gained in landscape maintenance, workflow processes, management, design, and landscape diagnostics. Excellent communication, honesty, a strong work ethic, and a passion for ornamental horticulture are a must for serious candidates. Job Responsibilities: * Koi pond maintenance and feeding of fish * Dead heading of annuals and perennials * Spot watering of potted flowers and dry spots * Maintenance of vegetable garden and harvesting * Pruning of shrubs and small trees * Daily landscape diagnostics and moisture checks * Irrigation scheduling and repair * Oversight and management of vendors * Landscape installation and proper planting * Design conceptualization * Presentation of solution found for landscape weakness witnessed on site Qualifications: A strong desire to learn and practice sound horticultural techniques is a must. Being able to self-manage and take on issues seen in addition to daily tasks will help the intern stand out. Open communication and honesty are critical to ensuring goals are accomplished and the workflow remains seamless. As a very refined landscape, candidates should have great attention to detail, and hold themselves and their work to the highest standards. As a private estate the intern must be respectful the owners privacy and be flexible with daily operations to maintain our high level of invisible service. Applicants are subject to a background check and thorough screening process and will be required to complete a confidentiality agreement. Applicants must have their own reliable transportation to and from work. The right candidate is sure to work hard over the summer, while also having the opportunity to take in a truly unique experience at a one of a kind estate.
