The department is widely recognized for service excellence in the operation of 2 water production facilities, 3 water reclamation facilities and 226 pump stations. In addition, DWR maintains 3,667 miles of water lines, 2,654 miles of sewer lines and 1,325 miles of stormwater pipe. The Department of Water Resources takes pride in stewardship of the environmental resources entrusted to us and pledge to be responsible as we manage water as a limited, but renewable, resource The Public Education Intern teaches school outreach programs focusing on water conservation, water protection and fats, oils and grease prevention for grades K-12 in Gwinnett County Public Schools. The incumbent will develop new lessons and activities that align with Gwinnett County Schools AKS standards and meet DWR school program learning objectives. Additional duties include attending public festivals and events as a representative of DWR, and assisting DWR staff with workshops and events. The Grade for this position is 97. Year round part time position, not to exceed 1,560 hours per year Minimum Qualifications: Must be pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education, Science Education, Environmental Science, Ecology or Biology with at least one year completed; Available at least two weekdays per week between the hours of 8:00am and 3:00pm with occasional evenings and weekends; Valid driver's license; Must be comfortable with public speaking and able to relate well with young children.
