Policy Intern Summer 2019 Greenwich Village Chelsea Chamber of Commerce (GVCCC) - New York, NY 3 hours agoPart-timeEstimated: $19,000 - $25,000 a year Apply Now Skills * Excel * Word Processing * Adobe InDesign * Computer Skills * Computer Literacy This internship is unpaid, but there will be opportunities for networking and professional development. Class credit is also available.The GVCCC is seeking a Policy Intern for Summer 2019. Under general supervision, the Policy Intern will assist in researching different ways local and state governments in New York can implement better public policies that increase the standard of living for their workers and residents. We are looking for interns interested in Real Estate, Hospitality and labor laws. Responsibilities: * Research different ways local and state governments in New York implement better public policies that increase the standard of living for their workers and residents. * Call local and state government officials directly in order to get information and questions answered. * Post content in the GVCCCs weekly newsletter, website, and social media. * Research strategies that will make the GVCCC stronger and better able to serve the community. * Identify potential donors and partners. * Plan and assist at events and conferences. * Organize and attend the monthly chamber committee meeting, including preparing agenda and taking minutes. Skills and Specifications: * Organized, and detailed-oriented. * Commitment to social justice. * Previous research experience is a plus, but not required. * Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel). * Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop highly desired. Knowledge of HTML and graphic design a plus. * An effective communicator, both written and oral. Position Details: * Part time internship: 15 to 20 hours per week. * Timeframe and Schedule: Flexible from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. * We will work with class schedules!
