Engineer Intern - Houston, Texas PRIMARY DUTIES * Assist in creating and implementing Lean project plan, and monitor progress against plan, elevate roadblocks that cannot be resolved locally. * Contribute and document best practices, either as a result of the operational excellence program or as part of the initiative through the creation of best practices and their documentation, or through re-using Best Practices from other Amega West facilities with the goal to consolidate all such practices. * Become familiar with processes, machinery, and manufacturing procedures. * Work with the Plant Manager to assist in the operation of department. * This position provides support for project based strategic company initiatives and the deployment of an ambitious Lean Operating System & operational transformation program in our manufacturing locations * May support engineering project activities and tasks such as data collection, field measurements, project design meeting attendance, and ordering of parts and components. * Activities will be both within an office setting and a manufacturing setting. * Appropriate safety training must be attended (provided by Carpenter) and adhered to. REQUIREMENTS * Qualified students need to be currently enrolled in a college program(at least Jr. Classification) and have a minimum 2.75 GPA to be considered. * Majors in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Technology. * Knowledge or experience with AutoCAD and Solidworks a plus. * Experience with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project * Employment offers are contingent upon the successful completion of Carpenter's pre-employment selection process, which includes a physical, drug and alcohol screen.
