Geotechnical Engineering InternRequisition ID 2019-39245Work Location US-NM-Las CrucesDepartment / Discipline Engineering - GeotechnicalPosition Type Trainee / InternshipOverview / ResponsibilitiesWood Environment & Infrastructure solutions has two to three Engineering Intern job opportunities in the Las Cruces, New Mexico office. The part-time, entry level position has a flexible work schedule to accommodate a student studying for their MS or PhD degree in Geotechnical Engineering. Hours will vary depending on project and employee needs. Responsibilities will include field work, laboratory work, engineering drawings, reference research, geotechnical calculations and data analyses; preparation of memos, letter reports and full geotechnical reports in support of projects including roadways, retaining structures, bridge foundations, dams, levees, and buildings. Skill in minor structural design is a plus.Skills / QualificationsCurrent graduate student in good standing working towards an MS or a Ph. D degree in Civil Engineering and majoring in Geotechnical EngineeringBSCE degree and EIT certification requiredKnowledge of Civil Engineering fundamentals, surveying, drafting, and general civil engineering design and construction practicesExperience with CADD platforms Autodesk AutoCAD� and/or Bentley Microstation� desirableFamiliarity with Mathcad desirableProficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPointGood oral and written English communication skills preferredGood interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff in a team environmentMust pass drug test, background check, physical exam and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with Woods Company driving (MVR) policyCompany OverviewWood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services to energy and industrial markets.
