Part-time, Internship Arcadis is actively seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern with an interest in designing HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and/or other mechanical systems for water/wastewater facilities, oil/gas facilities, and other industrial facilities to join our team in the Columbus, OH office. The primary focus of this role will be to provide technical and design consulting services with a focus on HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and/or other mechanical system design to support projects for the Water, Industrial and Environmental Business Line teams. The position requires the prospective Mechanical Engineer candidate to be performance-driven, team-oriented and client-focused with strong written/verbal communication skills and an impressive work ethic. Candidate must have a strong educational background and the ability to work productively and cooperatively in a team environment. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: * Work centered on the mechanical design and coordination of various projects involving industrial, municipal, and commercial market projects with an emphasis on water and wastewater treatment plant related buildings, industrial facilities, and associated ancillary mechanical support systems, as well as the analysis of existing facilities. * Assist engineers and project managers in * Establishing design criteria, performing design calculations, system sizing, equipment selection, developing detailed drawing designs for full documentation of the design, and writing associated material and product specifications required for a complete design package. * Cost estimating, code review, field investigation, report writing, technical memorandum writing, and other similar mechanical engineering related tasks. * Engineering services during the project construction phase, including reviewing contractor equipment submittals, shop drawings and responding to contractor requests for information. * Perform computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) work that requires a basic knowledge of CADD using AutoCAD, Revit, and/or Microstation specifically with civil and mechanical Engineering Design and Construction projects. * Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications * Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field Required Driving Statement This position requires a current valid drivers license and clean driving record.
