The Internship Manager serves as a lead for internship services at Nevada State College by managing the employer relations, faculty relations and student development components of the internship program. Reporting to the Director of Career Services and in collaboration with the academic leadership, the Internship Manager is responsible for providing expert assistance and coaching to students, employers, and faculty regarding the development and management of the internship program. Because the internship program is still a relatively new program on campus, this role will see shifts in its duties and an expansion of responsibilities as both the internship program and Career Services Center grows and develops on campus. The Internship Manager will need to have a "can-do" attitude and embrace developing and growing the internship program, while also participating in various other levels of the center. The Internship Manager will also support the Director of Career Services and must possess independent judgment and decision making; superb communication skills, writing capabilities, and organizational skills; problem solving; strategic planning and programming; campus and community collaborations; and strong knowledge in quality internship management and regulations. About Nevada State College: Founded in 2002, NSC is a four-year public college located on a developing 512-acre campus in the foothills of Henderson, Nevada (adjacent to Las Vegas). Our faculty and staff members enjoy the rare opportunity to mold the college as it continues to grow into a cornerstone of higher education in Southern Nevada. NSC serves approximately 4,900 students who are highly diverse and largely underserved-a majority of our students are first generation, racial/ethnic minorities, parents, and/or returning students. Core Responsibilities: Internship Development & Management * Manage and administer all aspects of the relatively new internship program, including the creation of internship standards and required processes * Serve as the main internship point of contact to employers, students and faculty * Update, administer, and collect all relevant internship forms from employers (i.e. Field Placement Agreement, Intern Evaluation Form, etc.) and students (i.e. Learning Objectives Agreement, Liability Release Form, Evaluation of Internship Site Form) to be used for accreditation purposes * Work collaboratively with faculty and administration to create policies and procedures for ensuring the academic quality and integrity of internships * Create and maintain the college's internship website page, to be housed under the Career Services Center * Collect and manage data on student internship sites to create reports for annual and accreditation reporting * Conduct surveys to produce and maintain outcome statistics on student internships * Develop and update internship policies and procedures * Develop internship promotional materials and resources for students, faculty, and staff * Create and implement internship readiness workshops and programs for students and faculty * Create an Internship Advisory Board, consisting of internship faculty and employers; plan and execute board meetings Employer Engagement * Network and build relationships with the business community to identify and increase the number and types of new student internship opportunities * Develop and maintain relationships with employers offering internship opportunities * Conduct internship information sessions and one-on-one meetings to educate businesses on the internship process, and work to grow the college's list of available internships * Initiate and maintain contact with employers to develop internships * Communicate with and monitor relationships with current internship sites * Vet and conduct site visits of potential and current internship sites Student Engagement * Promote internship openings to students via internship information sessions, one-on-one meetings, and marketing strategies * Meet with each student intern to review internship course syllabus and expectations * Assist students with resume, cover letter, and interview assistance so that each student best represents themselves and the College to potential internship employers * Counsel and advise students in career planning and career-related decisions * Meet with student interns as needed and resolve issues as they arise Faculty Engagement * Collaborate with academic faculty to establish internship qualifications for students (school year, earned hours, GPA, academic standing, pre-requisite classes, etc.) * Collaborate with academic faculty to create new for-credit internship course syllabus and expectations * Arrange meetings with faculty and academic department chairs to identify and promote relevant internships for specific majors Additional Responsibilities * Assist the Director with the First Destination Survey process, including development, collection, and analysis * Advise students and alumni (one-on-one and in group settings) on major/career exploration and planning, resume/cover letter development, interview skills, job search strategies, and graduate school preparation * Conduct classroom presentations and workshops on various career-related topics * Assist with planning and execution of career events, such as career fairs and workshops * Represent the Career Services Center at admission/recruiting events, student orientation programs, and community networking events * Occasional evening and weekend hours required for career events/workshops and to represent the Career Services Center at college events * Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor Minimum Qualifications: * A master's degree in student affairs, higher education, human resource management or a related field is required * A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in higher education, human resources, internship management, or corporate recruiting is required * Ability to relate professionally to and establish positive working relationships with employers, colleagues, academic administrators and faculty * Demonstrated knowledge and use of NACE internship guidelines, Department of Labor internship regulations, and internship professional standards/best practices * Strong written and oral communication skills. Possess ability to communicate well with students, employers, faculty members and college deans * Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team, as well as work independently * Possess excellent attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously * Strong organizational skills * Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail * Strong initiative and ability to work effectively in groups and independently * Thorough knowledge of English grammar, business writing, punctuation and spelling; ability to compose and appropriately format correspondence and reports * Experience with CSM platforms such as Handshake, Symplicity, or CSO * Experience with data collection and analysis * Technical proficiency, including data entry, records management and report generation using Handshake, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Please note: Applicant's must meet the posted minimum qualifications at the time of application in order to be considered for the position. Preferred Qualifications: * Previous work experience directly related to Career Services and/or Internship Management within a university/college setting preferred * Experience working with internships, co-ops or experiential learning opportunities is strongly preferred * Experience with development, collection, and analysis of First Destination Surveys/Post-Graduation Outcomes * Experience working with diverse students and special student populations (ie first generational, low income, non-traditional aged students, veterans, etc.) * Experience interacting with hiring professionals from corporate, nonprofit and public sectors * Experience providing direct service to a college student population in a higher education setting is preferred Salary & Benefits Budgeted salary range for this position is $45,000 - $50,000. Nevada State College offers excellent benefits, including 14.5% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 11 paid holidays, educational benefits, and the choice of two health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
