We work with businesses, educators, and service providers who use the app to scan, track, record and validate the data embedded within barcodes. Our main office is located in Waltham, MA. Read more about what we do here (https://www.codereadr.com/). About the Position: CodeREADr is seeking summer interns to help us write new patents and fight patent trolls in our industry. Interns will be responsible for providing assistance to the CEO with activities associated with editing patent claims, descriptions, drawings crafted by our staff and providing research to ensure those claims are novel. We would also task our interns with doing research that will help us counter current and future patent troll litigation. Finally, we are looking to influence legislation related to patent trolling in our state and would task our interns to assist us in creating content for legislative outreach. This is a part-time, unpaid internship available for 12 weeks, beginning in early June and ending in mid-August 2019. Duties / Responsibilities: * Apply your technical knowledge at an entrepreneurial and highly technical company * Perform patent research and information collection * Educate the executive team by drafting memos and briefs * Assist with understanding, writing, explaining, editing provisional patents * Assist with researching, explaining, writing or editing petitions or other documents * Create a content strategy to reach out to politicians about patent abuse Skills / Experience Requirements: * Minimum of one year of law school, with an intention to study Patent Law * Coursework or experience in Patent Law or Intellectual Property Law * Excellent organizational and written/verbal communication skills * Technology savvy with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office * Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship Note: We only work directly with applicants, no recruiters, please.
