It is among the most attended museums in North America, with over 2.2 million guests each year for the past two years and is the permanent home of the Space Shuttle Endeavour. The California Science Center is currently developing a major expansion, the Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center. The California Science Center holds prestigious accreditations by the American Alliance of Museums and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The California Science Center is a department of the State of California (State) and who works in partnership with the not-for-profit California Science Center Foundation (Foundation) to bring our mission to life. Visit us on the web to learn more: californiasciencecenter.org. Summary: The Teen Intern's primary responsibility is to interact with guest of all ages at the California Science Center. The Interns do cart presentations and hands-on activities having to do with the Science Center's many exhibits, including the Ecosystems exhibit. Teen Interns will learn public speaking and customer service skills, as well as informal education techniques and workforce preparedness. Major Job Responsibilities: Actively participates in the delivery of presentations and activities. Actively engage in leading and participating in daily group discussions. Models mature, responsible behavior and a positive attitude with strong leadership and communication skills. Engage and interact with the public by promoting a positive interest in science. Assist with the design and development of future floor programs. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Must be currently enrolled in high school with a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Applicants from a one mile radius of the California Science Center preferred. Comfort with public speaking preferred. Ability to follow directions and be a team player. Ability to work independently and interdependently. Positive, enthusiastic attitude and strong work ethic. Eagerness to learn and help others learn. Salary: $13.25 an hour.
