The Management Intern counsels students and alumni through meaningful career and internship exploration conversations primarily through small and large group settings, as well as some one-on-one advising. The Management Intern must solve complex problems related to advising individual students and alumni who come from a wide variety of backgrounds. These students and alumni are making life-changing decisions-thus, the Management Intern must understand and utilize available resources to provide individualized solutions. The Management Intern will become knowledgeable and understand the current EOSS initiatives. They will support university functions, serving as a catalyst for mobilizing groups of students to events such as: Game Day Activities, Homecoming, Fall Welcome Events, Family Weekend and other campus traditions. Services are provided for One University in multiple locations in support of the mission. The Ideal candidate has exemplary communication skills, has the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, is prompt with their follow-through; takes initiative; has proven leadership skills; has high attention to detail; Is proficient in technology; is effective meeting with people on a one-to-one basis; has strong group presentation skills; has experience collaborating across various disciplines/departments; and is committed to fostering an inclusive environment. This position will work primarily out of the Polytechnic location, but will also travel to and work at another CPDS office located at Downtown Phoenix, West, and Tempe campuses at least once per week. Staff are expected to participate in monthly all staff meetings (first Tuesday of the month), weekly core unit meetings (Wednesday afternoons), and weekly 1-on-1 meetings with supervisor as scheduled. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Full-Time/Part-Time Part-Time Essential Duties Direct Student Support * Engages with students/alumni on a regular basis in a virtual setting such as hosting webinars, conducting virtual 1:1 advising, and online chats. * Advises students and alumni regarding their interests, values, skills and qualifications related to career decision making, occupational research and preparing and conducting an effective job search. * Advises students on writing resumes, preparing job & internship search letters and materials, developing a professional portfolio and developing interview skills. Events, Programming, Special Projects * Under direction of Career Specialist, Sr., helps to develop, plan and implement various special projects related to, but not limited to, Career Interest Communities, liaison partnerships, and university-wide initiatives. * Assists with the design and delivery of career and professional development presentations/workshops, in both small and large settings, to ASU classes, clubs, organizations, and the community. Administrative * Conducts ongoing research through benchmarking peer institutions, connecting with professional associations, and attendance at career & professional development conferences to understand and provide information about post-graduation opportunities for students. * Orients a variety of users such as students, alumni, parents, and university partners regarding purposes and goals of CPDS, the Handshake online career platform and facilitates CPDS overviews. * Regularly records and reports on data related to appointments, event participation, student assessments, and other positions responsibilities. * Prepares materials and programs promoting CPDS and serves on University Committees that support recruitment, retention and student success. * Participates in regular staff meetings; either in-person or virtually. * Stays current with new online career websites, programs and resources. Work Schedule: Career & Professional Development Services serves students and alumni in the office and at events that typically take place Monday Friday, 7:00 am 7:00 pm, with additional evenings and weekends required. Staff have varied schedules during these timeframes to support students and alumni. Job location is primarily located at the Polytechnic campus; however, incumbent will be required to travel to other ASU locations at least once per week.
