Join a dynamic team at MITREs Wright Patterson AFB site involved in delivering innovative software solutions for some of the governments most challenging and immediate problems. As a member of the Intelligence Engineering & Analysis department, you will gain valuable technology experience as you assist in prototyping and research projects in agile software engineering, algorithm implementation, and command and control systems. As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will work to build out a suite of build scripts and continuous integration tooling for a project written in multiple programming languages that leverages specialized hardware. You will also make use of configuration management software to enable automated testing and deployment. Assist in the development of new and improved systems with emphasis on analysis and design, software integration, technology assessment, and software prototyping Develop prototype level software in a fast-paced environment Research, design, and develop technical solutions for MITRE sponsors May be asked to assist in lab and computer network, hardware and software configuration Document and present results in technical reports and briefs Keep pace with current and emerging technologies and apply them to ever-changing problems Work effectively in a collaborative, and sometimes physically dispersed, team environment Required Qualifications: Students should have a 3.0 or better grade point average in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or equivalent. Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills Fundamental knowledge of Software Engineering including knowledge of software development practices, workflows, and tools is desirable Familiarity with or strong desire and interest to learn mobile computing, cloud computing, gamification, and cybersecurity Working knowledge of multiple programming languages such as Java, C++, Oracle, Python, HTML, JavaScript, SQL Working knowledge of commercial and open source development tools, and modern operating systems Possess a passion for emerging technologies and their applications towards solving real-world problems Strong written and oral communication skills Prefer a student who is excited about computer science and computer engineering applications Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with is preferred: RF propagation and modeling Gnu-radio, SDR, SDR# Java, C++, Python, and/or C# skills Build scripting (Ant, Gradle, Make) Dependency and Artifact Management Familiarity with the following is helpful, but not required: Executable packaging (RPM, Java Jar, Python Wheels, and/or .NET Assembly) Static code analysis tools Virtualization tools Software/Hardware Integration * Students need to be currently enrolled and will be enrolled the following semester in a full-time in an accredited degree-seeking university program.* **70% of MITREs full-time jobs require US government security clearances, therefore many internships require that the candidates be clearable.**
