Job Ref: 1186688 Employer: Flowserve Corporation Country: United States City: Temecula Address: Post Date: 09/05/2019 08:06 Flowserve is seeking a local mechanical engineering student to work part-time in Temecula, CA, where we design and manufacture mechanical seals. The Intern will receive competitive compensation and practical hands on experience working side-by side with Flowserve's Advanced Technology R&D Seals engineers, and learning about the industrial applications of mechanical seals. Technical areas of interest include fluid dynamics, heat transfer, statics and dynamics, materials and laser manufacturing. The position will start in Summer 2019. The position will be full time during the summer, and could continue part-time into the school year. Typical job duties include: Work on projects involving physical inspections, lab tests, calculations, research etc. to insure the most effective design of mechanical seals Program and debug numerical methods for mechanical seal analytics based on test data and physical models Participate in test projects, assist in documentation Collaborate with others to explore approaches, methods, and conclusions Apply knowledge of fluids, statics and dynamics, heat transfer, materials, etc. to solving problems Use precision measuring tools in physical inspections Read and interpret engineering drawing and mechanical blueprints * Perform fluid and structural modeling to create new parts and improve existing designs Program and implement improvements for laser machining Preferences see above Position Requirements Mechanical Engineering Bachelor's Degree in-progress (preferably starting senior year), or Mechanical Engineering graduate degree in progress required. No recent graduates, or undergraduate freshmen or sophomores. Must be currently enrolled as a student at a university within driving distance of Temecula, California Must be able to demonstrate legal right to work in the United States Must pass drug screen and background check before the start of employment Strong mechanical interest and aptitude; some exposure to engineering drawings and blueprints Microsoft Office proficiency required, with exposure to FEA, ANSYS, AutoCAD, CFD, Matlab, C+ languages valued Good written and verbal communication skills. Good interpersonal skills to analyze and resolve problems Ability to work in a team-oriented environment Self-directed and organized with a strong work ethic
