Become a Superhero-In-Training Email was never designed with security in mind, allowing fraudsters to send email impersonating others and trick recipients into doing things they shouldnt. The email fraud problem goes beyond the traditional phishing scams were accustomed to receiving in our personal email accounts and today costs organizations billions of (soft impact on brand reputation; hard money being inadvertently wired by employees to offshore bank accounts) dollars every year. Proofpoints Email Fraud Defense (EFD) product protects organizations from this problem and is one of the fastest growing businesses within Proofpoint. As a summer intern, you with work with the EFD Product Management Team and be responsible for conducting online research on how email authentication issues can be fixed at email marketing companies. Fixing these issues is a precursor to organizations being able to implement email security to protect themselves from email fraud and EFD is trying to make this as easy as possible. This project will involve the following: Developing a methodology around how to prioritize email marketers to research. Developing a project plan, tracking and reporting progress to Product Management. Learning the fundamentals of email authentication (DMARC, SPF, and DKIM). Conducting online and offline research to determine how exactly email authentication issues are fixed at the email marketing companies determined to be in scope for the project. Working with Professional Services Team members to validate research. Collaborating with the Product Content Strategist on how to most effectively make the information available to users. Your Current Super-Skills Self-starter EFD is a fast moving environment where direction isnt always crystal clear. Candidate must be comfortable operating in such an environment and, when needed, willing / able to create her / his own clarity. Initiative is critical. Fast learner Our problem space is complicated. Candidate must be willing / able to quickly hunker down and learn the fundamentals of how email and email authentication works. Collaborative We work closely as a team to solve problems. Candidate must be open-minded and willing / able / motivated to contribute to conversations and coalesce around solutions. Your Superhero Profile You have the ability and interest in working full time (40 hours/week) onsite in our Broomfield, CO Office. You are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree (2019 new college grads also eligible), and are successfully maintaining an above average GPA, preferably 3.0 or higher. This summer internship is scheduled to run for 11 weeks from June - August 2019.
