Purpose: The purpose of the Industrial Engineering Internship position is to offer the opportunity of a "hands on" experience of our continuous improvement approach to manufacturing. The Student will have day-to-day assignments, projects, and quality related tasks designed to improve manufacturing processes. We are a unique company that includes high-mix low-volume manufacturing processes that include both legacy and new technology manufacturing. Essential Responsibilities: Internship for manufacturing continuous improvement focused on improving the safety, product quality, and efficiency/productivity goal improvements. * Observe production products/processes and work with the manufacturing team to improve safety, quality, and productivity by removing waste. * Collect, record, analyze, and present findings as it relates to company safety, quality, and productivity goals. * Provide support to Process Improvement leadership for mapping Production Process Flow. * Develop data analysis infrastructure to help Process Improvement Leadership in analyzing bottleneck and improving work efficiency. * Support Process Improvement leadership to conduct 5S audits. * Performs other duties as required or directed. * Provide end of term report summarizing accomplishments, project work, and observations to be presented to management. * Duties are performed in accordance with all safety rules and regulations. Good housekeeping skills are essential to keep work area organized, free of debris and unnecessary clutter. * Must be able to comply with Company attendance policies. Promotes a team-oriented, collaborative environment by addressing issues in a clam, objective manner. This position may perform other duties as assigned or as judgment or necessity dictates. Duties are performed in accordance with all safety rules an regulations. Good housekeeping skills are essential to keep work area organized, free of debris and unnecessary clutter. Must be able to comply with Company attendance policies. Environment: * Air conditioned office environment. * Ability to work in some non-air-conditioned areas of the warehouse and production factory. Desired Characteristics * Students must be enrolled in an accredited engineering program working toward a B.S. in Engineering. * Proficient using MS Office (Excel, word, Outlook).
